On November 8 2007, His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej had ordered His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn as represents himself to give the official torch to the Organizing Committee of the 24th SEA Games and the 4th ASEAN Para Games, which led by Dr. Suwit Yordmanee, the Minister of Ministry of Tourism and Sports and Mr. Sutee Makboon, the Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, to respectfully engage the official torch to light for the 24th SEA Games, at Sukhothai Palace.
Mr. Veerapong Lienprasert, the Reporter of Thairath Newspaper, at Nakhon Ratchasrima, reported Dr. Nat Intarapan, the deputy Minister of Ministry of Tourism and Sports, presided over the head of the athlete meeting with the head of the athlete from 10 countries at Surasamnakan Building, Suranaree University of Technology, Nakhon Ratchasrima, on November 8 2007. Dr. Nat said the Sports Technical will led the head of the athlete from member of SEA Games Federation of 10 countries, jointly investigate the readiness of 3 stadiums such as His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary, 5th December 2007 Sports Complex, Nakhon Ratchasrima, Stadiums at Chonburi Province and Bangkok. Moreover, in the afternoon we had minor meeting to workshop of all committees and sum up all information to inform member’s nations to realize the operation of Thailand and bring to learning then reuse and perform while the competition. Gen. Yuttasak Sasiprapa, the Chairman of SEA Games Federation, said after lectured on the topic of “Fair Play”, that the sending of list of names and amount of athlete must finish today then we will lead the head of athletes to investigate the organizing location including hospital, athlete village, etc. all in Nakhon Ratchasima, Chonburi and Bangkok. And some sports ask to increase amount of medal but some sports had only 2 countries to compete and some sports event had not completely amount of athletes so we must cut off that events. He informed the meeting that Thailand will organizing transparent and fairness competition without reward cheat and emphasized on the checking of forbidding drug of athletes, which after the meeting for 2-3 days will clearly know and can sum up about the amount of sports and gold medals that previously had 43 sports and 485 gold medals. Adm. Surawut Maharom, the Chairman of Thailand Athlete Preparation, reveals that the preparation of everything had completed only decorated and install equipments. The main structure was already complete and will decorate the athlete village before November 25 2007, which proceed for 1 night 1 day. If some sport venue already completed we will testing the system and all venues will install completely equipments and testing the system within November 20 2007. Reporter reported that at 6.30 pm., November 7 2007, Dr. Suwit Yodmanee, Minister of Tourism and Sports Ministry, being the host to give a dinner of welcome to the head of athlete for the 24th SEA Games 2007 from 11 member’s nations, at Culture Performance Field, opposite of athlete village in Suranaree University of Technology, in which the host organizing in Thai culture atmosphere which had Thai music show from the student of Suranaree University of Technology and play “Sai Fon” the song writing by the King by Navy Band and serving Thai food such as Som Tum, roasting chicken and Pad Thai. Moreover, in the evening (November 8 2007), at Nakhon Ratchasrima, Mr. Suthi Makboon, the Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, will be the host to give a dinner of welcome to the head of athlete at Royal Princess Hotel, Korat, which he assigned Mr. Chanvit Wasayangkun, the deputy Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, to welcome the head of athlete, in which had traditional menu of local northeast citizens.
